English Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is excited to offer an opportunity for an English Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This is a full-time position starting in January, continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become a permanent role based on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly pay of £419.25 - £500.
About the Role
This role is perfect for recent English graduates who are looking to gain experience in the education sector, whether as a pathway into teaching, educational support, or another related field. As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students and staff to foster a love of learning, improve literacy skills, and support academic achievement across all key stages.
Key Responsibilities
1. 1:1 Support: Provide one-to-one assistance to students who require additional help with English language or literature.
2. Small Group Work: Lead small intervention groups to focus on improving literacy, comprehension, and writing skills.
3. Classroom Assistance: Work alongside the class teacher to support lesson delivery, ensuring all students can access the curriculum effectively.
4. Targeted Interventions: Assist students who are preparing for key exams, such as GCSEs, by providing tailored support in line with their needs and learning plans.
5. Mentoring: Act as a role model and mentor, encouraging a positive attitude toward education and fostering confidence in students’ abilities.
6. Resource Preparation: Support teachers in preparing engaging resources for lessons, ensuring a variety of learning needs are met.
7. Progress Monitoring: Help monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers to adapt support strategies as necessary.
8. Support for EAL Students: Assist students who speak English as an additional language, focusing on building their language skills and confidence in class participation.
9. Fostering Engagement: Encourage a love of reading and critical thinking by inspiring students to explore literature and express their ideas.
What We’re Looking For
1. Graduate in English or Related Field: A strong academic background in English language, literature, or a related discipline.
2. Passion for Education: An enthusiasm for supporting young people in their academic journey, particularly in the subject of English.
3. Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
4. Adaptability and Initiative: A proactive approach to supporting students with varying abilities and needs.
5. Desirable Experience: While not essential, prior experience working with young people in a school, tutoring, or mentoring setting would be advantageous.
