We collect, manage and communicate HSBC’s heritage and archives in support of the bank’s purpose, values and strategy. We preserve the corporate memory of the organisation, and drive engagement with employees, clients, shareholders, dignitaries, regulators and other stakeholders. As Archivist, you’ll support the London team to manage and deploy the global headquarters and UK Bank archive collections. This involves selecting, transferring, appraising, ingesting, cataloguing, repackaging, tracking and digitising records to ensure they are preserved in perpetuity. You’ll also support our enquiry and research service – and our extensive outreach programmes. How will you help our team to succeed in the next 12 months? Developing content for our History website. Appraising and cataloguing accessions, both physical and digital. Upskilling and becoming confident user of our award-winning digital archive system Answering internal and external enquiries on a range of topics and varying complexity. Preparing and delivering short talks on history topics to our internal audience around the world The role is based in London working a hybrid pattern. The core skills and experiences needed for this role include: Experience of working with heritage collections, ideally within a corporate environment. Strong presentation skills and confidence to engage with a wide range of guests – from students to senior executives. Strong cataloguing experience following archival standards such as ISAD(G). Experience working with digital archives with knowledge of Preservica software an advantage. Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve.
