The Prospects Group of the Development Economics Vice-Presidency provides timely analysis on global economic and financial developments, and their impact on the member countries of the WBG. Internally, it informs and helps define policy positions of the WBG and provides analytical support for WBG operations. Externally, the Prospects Group aims to influence global policy debates on major macroeconomic and development issues. In fulfilling this objective, the Prospects Group leads the WBG's monitoring, analyzing, and forecasting work in global macroeconomics. It produces topical and policy-oriented analytical work, including the semi-annual WBG corporate flagship Global Economic Prospects report and the semi-annual Commodity Markets Outlook report. In addition, the Prospects Group produces a wide range of analytical studies that appear as working papers, policy notes, and research publications in scientific journals, conference volumes, and book chapters. ETC Position. The Prospects Group (DECPG) is looking for an ET Consultant with excellent data management and programming skills to work and contribute to its main tasks and product lines: •Manage data, improve data management, and prepare visuals for the Global Economic Prospects report, a WBG corporate flagship report, and/or other products. •Manage high-frequency data system and maintain macroeconometric model in EViews. •Manage data and prepare visuals for DECPG publications, including analytical work. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the team working closely with the Director and senior staff. Duties and Accountabilities: Under the direction of the DECPG Management Team, the Research Analyst will work closely with DECPG staff in the following areas: •Research, assemble, and manipulate data for regular products of the group, and for one-off research projects. •Use and maintain DECPG's high-frequency data system and its macroeconometric model. •Communicate with DECPG Management on work status, foreseeable problems, and processes. •Provide regular feedback to team leaders on challenges in data management and document production. •Provide input and quality control for DECPG's websites. Selection Criteria •MA/MS or BA/BS with minimum of 2 years relevant experience in Economics, Statistics, or related field. •Familiarity with sources, statistical methods, and concepts for macroeconomic, financial, or other economic data. •Data management, visualization, analysis, and reporting. Ability to interpret and communicate statistical information in a clear and analytically rigorous manner. •Attention to detail and can be relied on to complete task requiring competency to the Bank standard.
