About the Role:
Sanctuary Personnel are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Hospital Director to join our client and oversee a specialist low secure forensic service for men over the age of 50. The service, set within its own expansive grounds, offers care across two wards, each comprising 13 beds. The facility provides an age-appropriate environment for individuals with mental health or personality disorders and/or dementia, who also have physical health care needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership & Management: You will lead the Hospital Senior Management Team (SMT), ensuring that all aspects of the hospital’s operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in line with legal requirements. You will be accountable for the hospital's financial and operational performance, including cost control, budgeting, and meeting regulatory standards.
* Clinical Governance & Safety: You will oversee clinical governance, chair clinical governance meetings, and ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained. You will review audits, inspections, and ensure compliance with statutory bodies and company policies, taking action on recommendations where necessary.
* Quality & Performance: You will lead initiatives to continuously improve service quality, patient care, and operational efficiency. This includes using management information to identify underperformance and implementing action plans to address it.
* Strategic Management: You will maintain oversight of clinical risk management, work closely with regional support functions, and develop external strategic relationships. You will also be responsible for recruitment and retention planning to meet future staffing needs and reduce staff turnover.
* Budget & Financial Accountability: Actively participate in the budget-setting process with the finance manager and ensure the hospital meets its financial targets, including revenue and EBITDA.
* Reputation & Risk Management: You will manage the hospital’s external and public reputation, safeguarding its standing and taking advantage of opportunities to enhance it.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
* Degree-level education or relevant health or social care professional registration, with a postgraduate qualification being desirable.
* A strong background in providing high-quality care, with significant experience at a senior level in a similar setting.
* Proven leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage a diverse team in a dynamic environment.
* Experience in financial planning, cost control, and delivering commercial accountability.
* A track record of driving continuous improvement and leading organisational change.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, with the ability to tailor communication styles to different situations and audiences.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, multi-task, and handle ambiguity.
