We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and dedicated Assistant Headteacher to join our leadership team. This role is vital in supporting the Headteacher in the overall management and strategic development of the school, driving high standards in student behaviour, pastoral care and child protection.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and embed a positive behaviour culture, ensuring all students understand and meet high expectations for conduct, respect and engagement
* Oversee whole school safeguarding, acting as DSL and ensuring all child protection procedures are robust and effective
* Implement and monitor behaviour strategies, ensuring consistent approach across the school to reduce incidents and exclusions
* Develop a whole school approach to inclusion and pastoral support ensuring students feel safe, valued and supported
* Work closely with staff, families, and external agencies to support student well-being and progress.
* Contribute to the ongoing development and review of the school’s curriculum and policies.
* Lead and inspire staff through effective coaching and professional development.

In return, you will be joining our team of tenacious, optimistic and talented support staff, who have the support of an experienced leadership team Hamilton School is an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Special School in Reading educating up to 64 students with Education, Health Care Plans (EHCP). Our mission is to recognise each and every one of our students as individuals, and to nurture their potential, developing the whole child through a therapeutic approach. This means that you would have to be a resilient character who is able to remain positive when dealing with challenging behaviour. The school is proud to have recently opened its doors to a state-of-the-art building with wonderful new facilities for both pupils and staff as well as achieving a 'GOOD' Ofsted rating in May 2024.
