An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and technically skilled individual to join the Finance Division of Public Health Wales NHS Trust. You will be responsible for the provision of management accountancy advice and support to managers at all levels. You will need to demonstrate a high degree of financial awareness and have a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Management accounting experience in an NHS environment or similar large organisation is desirable. You will need excellent analytical and communication skills and be able to build excellent relationships with both finance and non-finance staff, with the ability to present financial data to a variety of individuals and groups. Reporting to the Senior Finance Partner and working alongside other finance staff you will have exposure to a wide range of finance activities with a willingness to be involved in the development of the Trust Finance Team.
Main duties of the job
1. The Finance Partner will provide comprehensive financial management advice, support and information to managers at all levels.
2. The post holder is responsible for the production of an accurate monthly financial position and outturn report, annual and adhoc costing work and supporting budget holders on all financial matters, including providing financial input to any business cases produced.
3. The Finance Partner will have an understanding of the service aims and objectives of the services they support.
4. The post holder will be required to meet the performance profile of the role. The performance profile is set down in the Job Description through objectives and continuous improvement as agreed through the Performance Development process (My Contribution).
5. Deputise for the Finance Business Partner as necessary.
Job responsibilities
* Monitoring & Reporting: Responsible for supporting specific Directorates/Divisions budgets. Monitor performance against budgets, analysing and reporting on income & expenditure variances and contribute to the drawing up of department/service budgets. Hold monthly meetings with Budget Holders to discuss current and forecasted financial position, and other financial areas of concern discussing options and advising accordingly.
* System Maintenance and Development: Maintain and develop computerised/IT financial information systems, such as income and expenditure tracking systems for PHW budget holders and the PHW finance team.
* Corporate Financial Strategy: Prepare annual budgets for various PHW teams for inclusion in the Integrated Medium Term plan (IMTP) and the annual Budget Strategy.
* Costing: Prepare and review costed establishments and budget proposals and provide sound technical financial advice for financial plans and business cases.
* Communication: Develop relationships and regularly liaise with Public Health Wales senior managers and budget holders and external customers.
* Other: Ensure the integrity of all financial data. Plan and organise own workload schedule based on experience.

* Educated to Degree level or equivalent. Part Qualified CCAB (post graduate diploma level) or equivalent.
