Full-time / 37 hours per week / 12 months Fixed Term due to funding
This is an exciting time to join Leicester Museums & Galleries (LMAG) as a new strategic vision is now in place and several significant capital projects are underway. Although Leicester is already full of world class art and culture, the city council is committed to growth and the vision is to create experiences that make Leicester truly special.
At Leicester Museum & Art Gallery, the citys flagship museum, we are undertaking a major capital project that will create new galleries, visitor routes and a new café. A redisplay of the art galleries will bring together a range of artworks including modern art, German Expressionism, and Picasso ceramics. The café will be relocated to the former Wild Space gallery.
The Service has recently been awarded funding by The National Lottery Heritage Fund to undertake the development phase of a project that will create two new Story of Leicester Galleries and an Environment Gallery, as well as deliver a community focussed Activity Plan. As part of the development phase, we will require a Community Co-Producer to play a key role in developing the projects Activity Plan, undertake a series of pilot engagement activities and support the development of a Heritage Fund delivery phase bid for a further phase of funding.
Do you have a passion for working with collections and the local community, and would like to be part of the team to bring this new museum to fruition?
This is a full-time temporary post working 37 hours per week on a flexible basis. Youll have flexibility in hybrid working, being both office based at Leicester Museum and Art Gallery, and able to work remotely from home. In addition, youll be required to travel across the city to engage with communities in their neighbourhoods, and to attend meetings with colleagues and partners.
We will consider this vacancy on a secondment basis for Leicester City Council employees. If you wish to apply for this post on a secondment basis then please make your line manager aware before applying.

What Youll Need

Youll have a strong understanding of how to engage with the public, and experience of producing accessible content for high-quality exhibitions using objects from a museum collection or loan items. Your creativity will showcase in your development of new initiatives, your ability to problem-solve, and your ability to inspire others.
As an excellent communicator, youll enjoy working with a wide range of stakeholders, including community groups, visitors and non-visitors, volunteers, and people from different backgrounds.
