Engineering Infrastructure and Global Standards Lead

As an Engineering Infrastructure & Standards Lead, you will hold a senior leadership position within the business, focusing on establishing a standardized approach to our engineering practices to further drive innovation, foster collaboration, and elevate our organization's position as a leader in engineering excellence. You will provide strategic direction, thought leadership, and technical guidance to ensure our engineering foundations are fit for purpose and adhered to across the network.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Define long-term roadmaps and tactical delivery plans to contribute to achieving company financial targets as part of the engineering transformation.
2. Directly manage a team of technical experts (5-10 direct reports) to support our global sites with identifying cost-effective opportunities for improvement and reducing operational risks.
3. Lead the definition, deployment, and assurance of engineering standards, strategy, and ways of working across the businesses, sites, and capital projects.
4. Contribute to the delivery of capital projects globally to maximize opportunities for Capex avoidance and 'safety by design', contributing to our engineering improvement financial metrics.
5. Own the design and deployment of a global governance framework to support the business with the adoption of the standards, supporting the assessments and assuring the mitigation plans for identified gaps.
6. Establish a central team and knowledge database to provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams to address common issues, provide best practices, and share examples of innovative solutions from across the network.
7. Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organization, including R&D, product development, operations, central capital projects, EHS, and executive leadership.
8. Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, providing guidance on complex technical challenges, encouraging creative problem-solving and critical thinking.
Skills/Experience Required:
1. Engineering degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical, or approved equivalent discipline.
2. Significant experience working in a chemical, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, steel, or other process-related manufacturing environment.
3. Experience with global and UK standards.
4. Demonstrated experience in leading the creation and deployment of new engineering standards and procedures that have been cascaded and are in use.
5. Extensive experience in engineering management roles with a track record of line management of technical experts, change leadership, and technical excellence.
6. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing demands.
