About your new role
Our national Commercial team works with a diverse range of clients from both private and public sectors, providing services in:

We advise on contracts from everyday business dealings to major projects across sectors such as technology, media, retail, pharmaceuticals, insurance, transport, logistics, manufacturing, and public entities like universities, NHS bodies, police forces, and local authorities.
Weightmans also has a significant role in emergency services, advising on governance, and public and administrative law. Our team is national, with offices in Liverpool, London, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, and Glasgow. We operate a hybrid working policy requiring at least two days in the office weekly.
We are recruiting a 4-6 PQE lawyer to support the Head of Emergency Services on governance, police advisory collaboration, and policy matters.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting police clients with in-house services, providing swift and accurate advice to senior officers and executives.
* Engaging with senior personnel confidently and pragmatically on high-profile, complex issues.
* Assisting with non-legal activities, including implementing government policies, strategies, and managing major projects.
* Analyzing police powers for Chief Constables, Deputy Chief Constables, PCCs, and their Chief Executives, including vires issues and national collaborations.
* Willingness to assist with police misconduct matters.
About You
* 4-6 years PQE
* Experience in police law and in-house services is advantageous
* Strong presentation, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills
* Conscientious, hardworking, with excellent communication, organizational, and analytical abilities
