Main Purpose of Role:
Be responsible for coordinating the genomic testing service to ensure the continual development of Cogent's service offering and take ownership of the role. Overtime, you will become the subject matter expert within your team, working with colleagues in the field as support and be an integral part of shaping Cogent's future. This is a great opportunity for either a relevant Graduate taking their first career steps or a more experienced Dairy specialist who wants to develop within the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
* To coordinate the genomic testing service, managing large data sets using R and an SQL database.
* Communicating with customers regarding their genomics and genetic services touchpoints with Cogent.
* Responsible for the success of the genomic testing service, with creative problem-solving skills in order to bring samples to evaluation.
* Be the subject matter expert within the team, working with the sales team to offer customised solutions to a wide range of customers and stakeholders.
* Work with the wider industry in collaborating with stakeholders to improve the wider service offering.
* Responsible for all genetic testing of beef and dairy bulls which enter the stud.
* Communicating with vets at Beachin stud to ensure all correct hair/tissue/blood samples are received on schedule for various tests.
* Source marketing material for Domestic and International sales team.
* Assist marketing team with ideas for genomics marketing material.
* To comply with Company policy and best practice in security, legal and regulatory compliance.
To ensure that all H&S responsibilities are fulfilled and that the team’s (including the role holder), visitors and contractors’ safety and welfare are maintained while managing/liaising with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
Essential Skills:
* Knowledge of the dairy industry is essential. Due to the location of the business, a current Driving Licence is needed.
* Experienced in using Microsoft Packages.
* Manages Knowledge by researching new ideas and capturing new learning.
* Shares Knowledge by communicating with focus, simplicity, and clarity.
