Requirements:
We are looking for candidates who possess an essential level of experience as a Network Architect, focusing on creating high-level designs for network solutions. You should have experience in designing and delivering large WiFi networks and a deep understanding of all network technologies, including WAN, LAN, WLAN, WiFi, MPLS, and Firewall. Additionally, experience with a range of network equipment and vendor technologies is vital, along with evidence of working with and managing suppliers when delivering and supporting networks. Strong customer engagement skills are also necessary.
Desirable qualifications include software skills or use of technologies for automation, such as Ansible or Terraform, and evidence of systems engineering and solutions architecture. While not mandatory, having Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE), Meraki certifications (ECMS1 and/or ECMS2), or an AWS Solutions Architect certification would be advantageous. We also encourage you to attain or work towards Chartered status with the British Computer Society (CITP).
Your responsibilities:
As a Lead Network Architect, you will own the technical strategy for delivering end-user networks across government buildings. You will be responsible for the High-Level Design and will develop cross-government standards for in-building networks. Your role will involve creating approaches for delivering various networking solutions for IT, OT, and Physical Security Systems. You will also collaborate with our supply chain to support end-user networks nationwide, ensuring the technical performance of our in-service networks.
You will assist in incident and problem resolution to maximize network performance while also exploring and implementing advanced networking technologies including enhanced automation, observability, SASE, improved WiFi performance, and advanced network security. You will act as an escalation point and subject matter expert for network architects, providing coaching and mentorship to them. Furthermore, you'll lead technical engagement both internally and externally with suppliers and clients, ensuring compliance with best practices, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
