The Role
We are looking for an Environmental Lead to join Tronox, working as part of a team in the SHEQ function. The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership of a team providing operational support and advice across the broad spectrum of environmental matters.
The successful candidate will be managing environmental compliance to UK regulations, leading environmental audits, inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations and raising awareness of relevant environmental management issues.
They will work well as part of a team and have a flexible approach to work, with a strong focus on problem solving.
Primary Responsibilities
10. To partner Site Leadership to develop and execute environmental risk reduction plans aligned with the global Sustainability Strategy that minimise environmental liabilities, manage legacies and prepare for a sustainable future
11. To own the Environmental Management System (EMS), ensuring ISO 14001 certification
12. To co-ordinate the site Energy Management System (EnMS), ensuring ISO 50001 certification
13. To co-ordinate the preparation of environmental impact assessments, permits, licences and other requirements for regulatory approval. Conducting assurance and auditing activities against the company's environmental regulatory requirements
14. To monitor environmental performance and recommend priorities and actions for improvement
15. To conduct timely incident investigations based on global guidelines aimed at understanding 'how' risk controls failed and generate actions that strengthen risk controls and create effective organisational learning
16. To manage the site relationship with the Environment Agency
17. To prepare and manage the environmental team budget, executing effective cost control, maximising efficient use of financial resources & labour to achieve environmental outcomes. Utilising risk assessment processes to support capital projects that drive risk reduction
18. To initiate proactive measures for continuous improvement on the identified environmental concerns
19. To review complicated products, equipment, and processes for potential hazards and recommends modifications before introduction
20. To manage environmental team performance through appraising them and identifying their training needs to meet the requirements of the role
21. To establish and maintain environmental performance monitoring and reporting systems
22. To develop safe standard work practices with line personnel and monitors conformance through safety and housekeeping inspections
About You
Ideally, you will have the following skills and experience:
Required:
23. Bachelors Degree in a relevant discipline – Environmental bias preferred
24. Member of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment), preferred Specialist education to IEMA Diploma
Preferred:
25. > 5 years’ experience SHE processes in a manufacturing environment, high hazard (Top Tier COMAH)
26. 3 to 5 years’ experience of leading teams
27. > 3 years’ experience of influencing & motivating all levels of the organisation in either a SHE related or manufacturing function.
28. Environmental Permitting Operator Competence (EPOC)
