Job Title: Senior Accounts Assistant
Location: Warrington
Pay Bracket: £28,000 - £33,000 per annum
We are working with a leading manufacturer who has been in business for over 30 years. They are dedicated to delivering high-quality services, from design and installation to ongoing maintenance and technical support. Our client is going through an exciting period of growth, and their team now needs to expand and recruit a Senior Accounts Assistant to work alongside the Financial Controller.
This is a great opportunity as you will supervise the purchase ledger, manage payroll systems, and support the Financial Controller with tasks such as month-end/year-end close and VAT/CIS submissions.
Your main roles and responsibilities:
1. Supervise and assist the Purchase Ledger Assistant in all aspects of the purchase ledger, including:
2. Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal departments to resolve supplier queries promptly.
3. Contribute to month-end reporting.
4. Ensure accurate reconciliation and management of supplier statements, GRNI ageing and debit balances, manual payment tracking.
5. Process monthly corporate card transactions.
6. Input authorised timesheets into Sage 200 for job costing.
7. Process weekly and monthly payroll, pension, and HMRC payment runs via BACS.
8. Submit RTI reports to HMRC.
9. Post and reconcile payroll and pensions to nominal ledgers.
10. Process weekly expenses and petty cash.
11. Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
12. Prepare and submit monthly CIS subcontractor returns.
13. Manage pension auto-enrolment processes.
The ideal candidate will have:
1. Proficient in using accounting systems, preferably Xero.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
3. Proficient in Excel and all Microsoft apps.
4. Strong collaboration and team communication skills.
