We are seeking an enthusiastic Bar Manager to lead the bar operations at our rugby clubhouse! This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about hospitality, with strong leadership skills, and a love for sports and community.
Position Overview:
As Bar Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the clubhouse bar, ensuring high standards of service, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction. The role requires weekend working, with minimum guaranteed hours of 25 per week and frequent additional hours, including limited flexible weekday hours for deliveries, ad hoc duties, and occasional bookings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise bar staff, ensuring excellent customer service
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, including weekly line cleaning
- Manage stock levels, ordering, and inventory control
- Plan and oversee staff rosters for effective bar operations
- Handle event and party bookings at the clubhouse
- Cash management, including accurate record-keeping and banking
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws and health & safety standards
- Report directly to the club officers
- Assist in promoting and marketing events to increase bar traffic and revenue
- Develop and implement bar policies and procedures to streamline operations
- Train and mentor staff in both bar operations and food hygiene practices
- Occasional preparation and serving of food, particularly during special events
- Ensure food hygiene standards are maintained during food preparation
Requirements:
- Must be aged 18 or over
- Willing to work towards obtaining a Personal License for alcohol sales (if not already licensed)
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience with cash management and stock control
- Ability to work weekends and occasional flexible weekdays
- Previous bar/hospitality experience is preferred but not essential
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, or willing to work towards one
- Experience with event management and promotions is a plus
- Proficient in handling and resolving customer complaints diplomatically
