What you need to do
Managing all Operator Licence regulations and within the Road Traffic Act laws to ensure that we remain legally compliant, taking action when needed in areas such as, but not limited to, Drivers Hours, Tachograph Use, operating within Speed Limits, Record Keeping, Driver Defect Reporting, Driver Pre and Post Use Checks quality and adherence to, Vehicle Security, Driving Styles, Licence Checks.
* To ensure all vehicles and trailers, including hired vehicles and trailers, are kept in a fit and serviceable condition, with all defects resolved.
* To ensure that all vehicles are maintained within service intervals; at a flat profile across the year and that all inspections are planned to maximise kit uptime.
* All vehicle paperwork is returned on time, in full and retained in line with our Undertakings.
* Managing compliance via a regular programme of audits across all areas of responsibility.
* Responsible for the day-to-day people management for direct and indirect reports and escalating complex issues when required.
* Lead and manage the day-to-day Transport team and activities, including resource allocation, capability and utilisation.
* Deliver a consistent business performance and standard across the end-to-end transport operation, managing colleague performance to ensure the delivery of an excellent site operational performance safely and efficiently, achieving KPIs.
* Monitor and implement compliance across Transport Operations activities.
* Influence, manage and maintain external relationships across a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to our customer.
* Identify efficiencies and continuous improvement opportunities whilst understanding the balance between service and cost, which should be presented to the Operations Manager.
* Operate within legislation, policy and process in all matters ranging from people management to safety, health and environment.
* Supporting the People Plan and accurate colleague life cycle through use of the HR business model.
* Systematically work through information, knowing when to move at pace and when to deepen analysis.

* Understand the relevant legislation, policy and process in all matters relating to people management, safety, health, and environment relevant to your working location and be able to apply this.

Manager Responsibilities
* Directly manages a small team of Transport Team Managers and Clerical teams.
* Indirectly manages many Transport colleagues within their shift, including permanent and agency colleagues.
