Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated PSV/HGV Technician to join our team. We are sympathetic to LGV/HGV candidates willing to move across skill sets.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and fabrication of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). This role requires a strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to work with various hand tools and equipment. The ideal technician will have experience in electrical systems and be capable of interpreting schematics to ensure vehicles are operating at optimal performance.
Responsibilities
* Conduct regular inspections and diagnostics on HGVs to identify mechanical issues.
* Perform repairs and maintenance on various vehicle components, including engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
* Fabricate parts as necessary to ensure proper functioning of vehicles.
* Use welding techniques to repair or create components as needed.
* Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on each vehicle.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery.
* Adhere to health and safety regulations while working in the workshop environment.
* Assist in heavy lifting tasks as required during repairs or maintenance activities.
Qualifications
* PSV licence is expected for the future, however can be achieved through the company's own training facilities at no expense to yourself
* NVQ level 3 in HGV or similar is preferred.
* Irtec accreditation desired, if not held at present it will be expected and assisted by the company to get it achieved.
Desired experience
* Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in HGV/PSV repair and maintenance.
* Proficiency in using hand tools and equipment related to vehicle repair.
* Ability to read and interpret schematics for electrical systems.
* Experience with welding techniques is desirable but not essential.
* Capability to operate forklifts safely; relevant certification is an advantage.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting as part of routine tasks.
* A proactive attitude towards safety and quality assurance in all work performed.

Weekdays - 07:00 - 17:00
Weekends - 07:00 - 12:00
Eventually you will be expected to work a weekend on call once a month, and every other Saturday morning.
Expected hours: 46.5 per week
