The purpose of the role is to work under the guidance of the Room Lead to support teaching and learning in the classroom. You will also provide general support to the Room Lead in the management and organisation of the pupils and the classroom and assist the Room Lead in creating and maintaining a safe, purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment. We believe that incorporating adult-scaffolded learning objectives can effectively support all areas of learning and enables our children to make good progress.Our planning and teaching includes extensive support for communication and language development. Our practitioners provide clear support for extending children's oral language, vocabulary, oral comprehension, and sentence repetition.We ensure that role play, and small group times offer deliver sustained conversation and language development and offer opportunities to hear and practise language.We make sure that our children experience diverse vocabularies within a language-rich environment and plenty of opportunity for songs and nursery rhymes.The main duties will involve: Deliver planned learning opportunities designed to meet the emotional, physical and learning needs of individual children and groups of children, including those with Special NeedsWork with key children to progress in the next stage of their learning, as directed by Room LeadSupporting Room Lead in monitoring and assessing the children’s responses to learning activities in all areas of Early Years OutcomesDevelop and maintain effective relationships with pupils and ensure key children achieve their learning targetsAttend to the physical needs of young children, e.g. first aid, changing clothes, toilet trainingSupport the Room Lead in providing a high quality, creative early years environment, including creating a variety of displays and ensuring there are adequate supplies of learning materialsSupport Room Lead in preparation, setting up and clearing away of activitiesUnder the direction of the Room Lead, assess and record the achievements and progress of pupils through Target TrackerEstablish and maintain constructive relationships with parents/carers by:Supporting their role in pupils’ learningProviding constructive feedback on pupils’ progress and achievementsFacilitating their support for their child’s attendanceSupporting home to school/community linksEnsure Behaviour Policy is adhered to and communicate concerns to Room LeadOur ideal candidate will have:Early Years Level 2 Educator qualificationsExcellent communication skills and be able to build good relationships with young people and adultsAn ability to deal with students and staff so that they feel they have been dealt with consistently and fairlyThe ability to show initiative whilst knowing when to take adviceGood judgement over matters of confidentiality and integrity in dealing with sensitive information about studentsStrong IT skills with the ability to positively respond to training in the use of school IT packagesOther requirements:Sound literacy and numeracy, GCSE in English and Maths at Grade C or aboveSome previous experience of working with young people is desirableSome understanding of how students learn or teaching experience is desirableFor more information or to visit the school, please contact Charlotte Beckhurst - Primary Headteacher on email removed.
