Job summary Paediatric Respiratory Support Nurse -Band 6 - 22.5hrs per week - 1 year Fixed Term post The paediatric departments at West Suffolk Hospital provide care to children and young people aged 0-16yrs across a range of medical and surgical specialities including, medicine, surgery, ENT & orthopaedics. This is a 12 month fixed term contract to support the paediatric respiratory team. Main duties of the job Clinical Responsibilities Work to achieve the philosophy of care for children with respiratory conditions. Support consultant led clinics associated with respiratory disorders in children. Act as a role model, providing clinical leadership to all staff, and promoting effective team-work. Assist with co-ordinating diagnostic investigations. Plan, implement and evaluate individual programmes of care that recognise the diverse needs of children and their families in conjunction with the MDT. Ensure a high standard of care based on assessment of care needs in consultation with the child, the child's relatives, and the multi-disciplinary team and where appropriate conduct home visits. Ensure effective lines of communication within the multi-disciplinary team to achieve an optimum level of service to patients and their relatives. Support families in stressful situations, acting as a resource for patients and carers in the acute and community setting. Assist in the Co-ordination and liaison of relatives, the care and requirements of children receiving oxygen therapy at home. Assess the learning needs of individual children and relatives where appropriate. Evaluate the teaching provided and take necessary action to achieve objectives.
