What skills and experience we're looking for
The position is term time only and has an actual full-time salary is £19,580. Initially, it will be a fixed one year contract and both full-time and part-time hours will be considered.
The role will involve teaching and coaching across all year groups from our Junior Department through to our Sixth Form students. There will be an expectation that appointed colleagues are able to manage both the demands of supporting larger groups and those students who require more specialist input. Coaches will need to be available for after school sporting fixtures and training alongside a commitment throughout the day. Exact requirements can be discussed at interview.
Coaches will be working with highly motivated and well-behaved students. You will also benefit from our outstanding facilities which include a newly refurbished astro-turf and changing area, and a modern sports centre including gymnasium.
The post would be ideal for a colleague considering a career in education or professional coaching.
What the school offers its staff
Thank you for your interest in joining The King’s (The Cathedral) School at this exciting time. We are looking for a graduate sports coach to start in September 2025. Both full-time and part-time appointments will be considered.
The King’s (The Cathedral) School enjoys a very strong reputation both within the city and the local region. As one of a small number of state schools with close links to their local Cathedral, our distinct Christian culture lies at the heart of the school. We are a single academy Trust, located close to the city centre of Peterborough, educating students from the age of seven to eighteen.
We are rightly proud of our student’s academic achievements (progress is typically in the top 5% nationally for GCSE) but the educational philosophy at the school is far broader with students encouraged to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities including Music, Sport and Drama.
The post is offered on an initial one year fixed contract. We are looking for a team player within an enthusiasm for coaching and a desire to nurture students of all ability levels. We particularly welcome those coaches who have a specialism in team sports such as hockey, netball and football.
Commitment to safeguarding
The King’s (The Cathedral) School fully recognises the responsibility it has under section 175 of the Education Act 2002 (as amended), the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 (as amended) and Education and Training (Welfare of Children) Act, 2021 to have arrangements in place to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
