Health & Safety Advisor - Nottingham
Location: Colwick, Nottingham (with regular travel to Leicester)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 16:30
We are looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to support our teams by ensuring compliance with health & safety legislation, promoting a strong safety culture, and reducing workplace risks. You will work closely with managers, employees, and external bodies to develop and implement effective health & safety policies and procedures. This role is crucial in maintaining high safety standards and continuous improvement across our operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out risk assessments, site inspections, and internal audits
2. Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence
3. Deliver health & safety training and toolbox talks
4. Provide expert advice to managers and operational teams
5. Support the development of Safe Working Procedures (SWP)
6. Promote and embed a proactive safety culture through regular engagement
7. Ensure compliance with legal and company health & safety requirements
8. Liaise with regulatory bodies, training providers, and auditors
9. Maintain accurate records of incidents, training, and safety initiatives
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential:
1. NEBOSH General Certificate
2. In depth knowledge of health & safety legislation and industry best practices
3. Experience in risk assessment, auditing, and incident investigation
4. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
5. IT proficiency (Microsoft Office)
Desirable:
1. NEBOSH Diploma
2. Membership in IOSH or a relevant professional body
3. Experience in the recycling, waste, or heavy industry sector
4. Previous experience in delivering training
