Commercial Director (Designate Managing Director)

Overview
We are looking for a Commercial Director to lead our established online flooring business. The ideal candidate will have previous management experience in a home furnishings eCommerce business and a solid understanding of online marketing practices. You will report directly to the Group CEO and take responsibility for the overall management, strategy, and performance of the business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is results-driven, conscientious, and has a passion for scaling online businesses.
This is a highly commercial role, requiring a strategic leader with a proven track record in online retail, particularly in homeware (preferably flooring, tiles, kitchens, or bathrooms). You will be fully accountable for the business’s performance, focusing on scaling the online operation, optimising profitability, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Responsibilities
* Lead the company in executing its growth strategy, focusing on increasing turnover and profitability while maintaining a high standard of customer service and satisfaction.
* Identify new opportunities for expansion, including product diversification, market penetration, and customer acquisition.
* Drive sales performance across all channels, with an emphasis on online retail.
* Take responsibility for budget management, financial planning, and performance tracking, ensuring profitability and operational efficiency.
* Optimise pricing strategies, promotions, and product offerings to maximise revenue and margins.
* Oversee the daily operations of the business, ensuring the efficient functioning of all departments including sales, logistics, and customer service.
* Implement processes and systems to improve efficiency, scalability, and customer satisfaction.
* Ensure the business operates in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
* Work closely with the marketing team to contribute ideas for growth in SEO, paid advertising, and customer acquisition strategies.
* Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing team.
* Provide mentorship and development opportunities to key team members.
* Represent the business externally, building relationships with suppliers, partners, and industry stakeholders.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement, using data-driven insights to refine processes, enhance customer experience, and drive growth.
* Monitor competitor activity and market trends to stay ahead of the curve.
Skills & Experience
* Previous management experience in a home furnishings eCommerce business or similar online retail sector.
* A solid understanding of online marketing practices, including SEO and paid advertising.
* Strong business acumen and financial management skills.
* Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
* Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
