ASSISTANT BAR MANAGER - JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Assistant Bar Manager (FIXED TERM 12 months – Maternity Cover)
Reports to: Front of House Manager
Appointed by: Interview Panel
Period of Appointment: 30 hours per week
Salary: £19,047.60
PURPOSE OF ROLE
1. The Assistant Bar Manager will support the Front of House Manager with the operation of the bar facilities within the Tyne Theatre and Opera House.
2. The role is required to ensure that bar facilities and services are delivered to a high standard during performances and events.
3. The role will oversee a team of casual bar staff, maintaining high standards of customer service.
4. The role will report to the Front of House Manager and work alongside all departments.
5. Working hours will require flexibility and will include evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist and oversee the operation and activities of the Theatre bar facilities.
2. Ensure adequate staffing levels are provided during events.
3. Brief staff regarding the event details and line manage the team of casual bar staff.
4. Ensure that high standards of customer service are provided and respond to any complaints in a professional and efficient manner.
5. Ensure cash procedures are adhered to and strictly monitored.
6. Assist with stock control, including ordering, coordinating deliveries, maintenance of stock levels, and stock rotation.
7. Ensure that health, safety, and hygiene regulations, policies, and procedures are adhered to.
8. Work closely with all departments to ensure the smooth running of events.

1. Experience of working in a busy bar environment.
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
3. Good relationship-building skills.
4. Excellent time management and strong organizational skills.
5. Ability to use initiative and be a self-starter.
6. High level of attention to detail and excellent numeracy skills.
7. Excellent organizational abilities.
8. MS Office Skills – Word and Excel.
Desirable Skills
* Personal Licence holder.
* First Aid qualification.
* An interest in arts and entertainment industries.
