Senior Credit Risk Manager - Greater Manchester - Up to £100K!
*5 days a week in the office*

As a Senior Credit Risk Manager, you will be responsible for the second line management of credit risk for the business. Leading a team of two, you will develop credit risk policies and related standards, providing oversight and assurance to the Executive and Board that credit risk is being managed within risk appetite. You will work with the Head of Credit Risk to develop credit strategies based on credit scores and cost of risk, integrating new data sources as they are developed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work closely with the Manager Credit Risk and first line team to compare lending approaches to peers to identify areas where pockets of credit risk could be developing; highlight these through governance and recommend appropriate controls.
* Produce credit risk profiles along with in-depth analysis on the credit performance of the loan book for Exec and Board risk committees, ensuring all material credit risks have been identified and mitigating actions (where required) have been defined and progressed.
* Set, via the Board, credit risk appetites; identifying and managing portfolio-level credit risks, key exposures, and concentration risks.
* Develop affordability and valuation strategies for all products, ensuring we meet all regulatory requirements and manage these risks within appetite.
* Work with the Financial Risk Manager to ensure climate risks that cause credit risk are within appetite.
* Work closely with the Manager Credit Risk (ECL and Scorecard Modelling) to align ECL provisions and credit risk management and develop the use of cost of risk across the business.
* Provide 2nd line oversight on the controls for large exposures and other concentration risks through appropriate structures.
* Horizon scan for emerging credit risks and develop forecasting models, e.g., arrears forecasting.
Key Requirements:
* Numerical background and strong analytical skills.
* Experience of credit risk management within a secured lender.
* Experience with analytical software, e.g., SQL, Python.
* A solid grounding in data analysis using quantitative analytic tools and good research skills.
* The ability to identify trends and interpret data from multiple sources and investigate anomalies and unusual patterns/activities.
* Effective problem-solving skills and ability to make recommendations based on findings considering commercial and customer implications.
* Excellent communication skills to articulate complex issues/analysis to senior management and interact with other teams across the business both orally and in writing.
