Network Engineer Job Req ID: 42854 Posting Date: 15 Jan 2025 Function: Engineering Unit: Networks Location: Snowhill, Birmingham, United Kingdom Salary: Competitive with great benefits Why this role matters The Service Provision team help build BT's biggest and fastest network within Service Provision you will be responsible for the delivery of crucial elements of projects such as the replacement of UK's Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) with a fully digital network, to name one of many areas you'll be working in. On a daily basis you will liaise with field engineers as well as other key stakeholders within the business. We are piloting innovative automation and AI initiatives that will change the way we work as a team and unit. Our hybrid working model means you are expected to be in the office 3 days per week. This role is based in our Birmingham office. You'll have the following responsibilities Please refer to the attached job description for further details of this role. - Providing technical network knowledge to design, test, platform and operational teams - Have a working knowledge of the 21C network - Develops effective working relationships with internal stakeholders to explore opportunities for partnership. - Uses technical knowledge to support design, configuration, testing and delivery. Also propose improvements to processes and implementations on team equipment and networks. - Representing BT to vendors and driving for solutions to technical problems. - Ensuring the technical integrity of assigned project deliverables. These activities will include: analysis and decomposition of requirements, designs, together with development of new methodologies also reporting and volume tracking - Contributing to the implementation of key strategies and transformation activities in the team. - Adhering to all team processes, examples are; Jira updates, Timesheets & team best practices - Troubleshooting and resolving issues in project and completing customer requests - Executing the implementation of complex change in line with change management best practices and the associated governance. - Managing stakeholder and demand expectations through cross area engagement - Developing technical capability through continued learning and use of Tech Pathways, managing own development, upskilling & multiskilling proactively in line with unit strategy - Ensure interactions with customers and colleagues are respectful and courteous and represent BT in a professional way - To champion the use of automated tools, continually improving these tools and reducing the amount of fall outs and manual touch time, always seeking to improve, and work in line with, standardised processes and procedures. - You are authorised to access, use or disclose customer information only when you need to do so to perform your operational duties. - You will be confident and professional in communicating with all stakeholders, both locally and with members of the Senior Management Team - You will have extensive experience of network technologies and protocols within your native domain - You will have awareness of the E2E service journey - You will be able to adapt to emerging and evolving technologies, in line with Tech Pathways role mapping - Provision of E2E management, delivery and cessation of Cable-link products, including associated tasks.
