This is an exciting opportunity to join the Microbiology team as a Trainee Biomedical Scientist or a band 5 biomedical scientist at Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services (CWPS) based at UHCW NHS Trust as a specialist Biomedical Scientist. We serve the communities of Coventry and Warwickshire and have Pathology Departments across University Hospital, Coventry; George Eliot Hospital; Warwick Hospital; and St Cross Hospital, Rugby.
The Microbiology laboratory department is located at University Hospital, Coventry and performs testing, reporting and clinical advice services for all Hospitals. Microbiology is currently out to tender for full laboratory automation and a significant upgrade in equipment throughout the laboratory; therefore, you would have the opportunity to be involved in the implementation of this into the routine diagnostic service. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to expand their operational and leadership experience.
The successful candidate will have completed the registration portfolio in Microbiology or be expected to complete it in the first 12 months. We offer the opportunity to participate in the ongoing transformation of the service and encourage staff to bring forward ideas for improvement. An opportunity has arisen for a trainee BMS/Biomedical Scientist in Microbiology at University Hospital Coventry. This is an opportunity to join the Coventry & Warwickshire Pathology Services (CWPS). We have pathology labs in Coventry, Warwick, and Nuneaton; microbiology is centralised at our Coventry site. We serve over 250 GP practices as well as the acute hospital Trusts in these locations. This post is primarily based at our Coventry site.
Candidates should have substantial UK microbiology NHS lab experience. The successful candidate must be able to participate in shift rotas and once HCPC registered, participate in the on-call rota.
This post is paid at band 5 or at Agenda for Change: Annex 21 Arrangements for pay and banding of trainees, which equates to a % of Band 5, dependent on training period.
