Senior IT Engineer
Permanent, full-time role offering up to £36,000 + benefits
This role will require you to be onsite every day during the initial months, transitioning to a hybrid working model (2–3 days onsite) thereafter. Occasional travel to client sites will also be required.

As part of an exciting expansion, this Cyber Security Specialist company are seeking a Senior IT Engineer to join a their team in Northampton office. The company provides network filtering solutions (Hardware and Software) and they seen a huge success with clients in industries such as defence, critical national infrastructure, and finance.
Position Overview
In this role, you’ll work closely with experienced Technical Engineers, assisting in the creation of technical solutions for their networking products. This opportunity is ideal for someone with existing experience in IT, networking, and Linux, who is looking to advance their career.
Training Provided
As part of the role, you’ll receive comprehensive training and guidance to develop expertise in the company’s product range. This includes hands-on training and shadowing, particularly in creating technical solutions such as Low Level Designs (LLD) and High Level Designs (HLD) for their networking solutions.
You’ll have a unique opportunity to learn about:
* Creating technical solutions, including LLD and HLD.
* Implementing hardware networking solutions and data diodes, essential for secure data transfers.
* Developing software-based network filtering solutions and preparing technical specifications for complex client environments.
What will you do?
* Assist clients in preparing technical solutions for networking products (hardware and software).
* Collaborate with clients to carry out technical scoping and requirements gathering to understand their networks and infrastructures.
* Prepare product specifications and technical solutions tailored to client requirements.
* Provide consultancy and ongoing support post-onboarding, including delivering product demos, running workshops, and explaining how solutions work and how to use them.
What do you need to be successful?
* Networking knowledge: Understanding of TCP/IP communication protocols and Ethernet networking in general.
* Linux proficiency: Familiarity with Linux and basic command-line knowledge.
* Strong interpersonal skills: Confidence meeting new people daily and engaging with clients in various settings.
* Work authorisation: Valid UK work authorisation and a full UK driving licence.
* Security clearance: Willingness to undertake UK Government Security Clearance.
Not essential, but nice-to-have skills:
* Scripting knowledge in Bash, Python, or JavaScript.
* Familiarity with the Windows OS and ecosystem.
