Lead Product Designer – Consumer
The role
We’re seeking an experienced Lead Product Designer to join our Experience Design (XD) team.
1. To lead, coach and mentor a team of Product Designers.
2. Oversee and elevate the design quality of our consumer-facing apps and web experiences, guiding the team whilst remaining hands-on where needed to explore ideas and set the standard.
3. Lead an exciting initiative to make the home-moving journey smoother and more connected.
4. Collaborate across teams and lead strategic initiatives with a user-centered approach.
5. Shape the future design vision for our apps and web experiences - defining where we should be heading and aligning stakeholders around a clear design direction.
6. Design advanced prototypes to bring this vision to life. Not for immediate delivery, but to explore possibilities, validate ideas, and shape long-term roadmaps in collaboration with product and engineering.
7. Report to and work closely with the Head of Experience Design.
8. Based in our Soho office 2 days a week and 3 days from home.
What you’ll be doing
9. Partner with the Head of Product, Head of Engineering, QA, and the other Lead Product Designer in the domain. Contributing to strategic decisions, aligned to business objectives and key results.
10. Conduct generative research for discovery, leverage insights and data to inform decisions and long-term planning.
11. Develop a deep understanding of the space you work in.
12. Provide a holistic view of your domain with insights and data.
13. Raise product design standards and adoption of the design system, promoting reuse and consistency with Brand and code.
14. Champion inclusive and accessible digital experiences, collaborating with Engineering to uphold accessibility standards.
15. Advocate for best practices in app design, helping the team navigate platform guidelines, interactions, and emerging trends.
16. Advocate for XD within Rightmove and participate in external industry events, staying up to date with trends and best practices.
What you’ll bring to the role
17. Expertise in native apps, ensuring our experiences are intuitive, high-performing, and make the best use of platform capabilities.
18. Leadership skills in recruiting, onboarding and developing talented Product Designers, providing clear direction, support and continuous feedback.
19. Effective communication with leadership, stakeholders and peers, building trust and nurturing strong relationships.
20. A passion for continuous learning and development, with a proactive approach to enhance ways of working and collaboration, contributing to design operations for XD.
21. Strategic thinking, balancing business objectives with user needs.
