Job Advert: Experienced Coach or Player-Coach (Staines Hockey Club, TW18)
Staines Hockey Club is seeking a passionate and experienced coach or player-coach to join our team for at least two seasons. Based in Staines, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our club, guiding both a mens team to the national league for the first time in our history, whilst fostering player development and creating a positive environment. Our 1XI team has come close to securing a spot in the national league for several years, and we are now looking for someone who can bring us that final piece of the puzzle to reach our goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Select and lead a performance-driven squad with an agreed set of principles and behaviours.
Tactical Knowledge: Apply an in-depth understanding of game tactics and seamlessly incorporate them into the team's play.
Session Planning: Design and deliver challenging weekly training sessions, specifically for Tuesday nights.
Matchday Commitment: Attend all Saturday league fixtures.
Player Development: Create meaningful opportunities for young players to develop and succeed.
Recruitment & Retention: Foster an environment that attracts and retains new players to the club.
Squad Alignment: Work closely with our 1st and 2nd squads to align player development opportunities.
Club-Wide Deliverables:
Provide positive input across the men's section and contribute to the overall success of the club.
Ensure the smooth integration of the 1st XI within the wider club, contributing to social activities, coaching, fundraising, and umpiring for other teams.
Maintain a track record of successful coaching delivery, with a focus on positive results.
Exhibit excellent people skills, with a firm but fair coaching style.
Ideal Candidate:
Proven national league experience as a coach or player-coach.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
A commitment to at least two seasons with the club.
A genuine passion for developing players and advancing their skills.
