The Emergency Unit (EU) at Glangwili General Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to undertake the role of Emergency Unit Receptionist.
The post holder staffs the Reception Desk and facilitates the smooth running of the EU in conjunction with the EU Team.
Main duties of the job
Duties will include:
1. Registering all new EU patients.
2. Ensuring accurate filing, scanning, collection, and onward transmission of all patient records.
3. Taking and relaying information related to patient care.
4. Answering telephone queries in a courteous and efficient manner.
5. Referring to a Registered Nurse those telephone queries requiring patient care/advice.
6. Informing the Nurse-in-charge of any patient presenting in distress, or who appear acutely unwell at any time.
7. Reporting any concerns about patients' well-being, complaints, or queries regarding a patient's condition to the relevant clinician.
The post covers a 24-hour period. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Experience
* Recent experience in a receptionist/administrative/retail/hospitality or voluntary role with the public.
* Experience of "face to face" working with the general public.
* Experience of customer services.
* NHS experience.
Qualifications and Knowledge
* GCSE in English and Mathematics / NVQ 2 (or equivalent experience).
* Literacy commensurate with responsibilities and duties.
* Ability to obtain key information and record it in the appropriate format.
* Maintain personal development.
* Knowledge of IT patient administration systems (computerised).
* Knowledge of hospital departments.

* Flexible approach to the needs of the service.
Language Skills
* Welsh speaker (Level 1).
