There are 2 permanent, fulltime positions available of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Friday.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to fill the post of a Mental health Support Worker within the GGC Adult Eating Disorder Community Team. The Eating Disorders Service is a well-established dynamic multi-disciplinary outpatient Service, currently going through a period of service improvement. The service supports patients with a wide range of eating disorder presentations including those who have severe and/or enduring difficulties that require a multi-disciplinary approach.
The post holder will be based in the Adult Eating Disorder Service (AEDS) based at Florence street Glasgow.
The mental health support worker will be key in physical health assessment clinics that are to be developed across GGC; this will require the ability to travel across GGC.
The mental health support worker will work to build relationships with service users by connecting with and supporting their experiences in a thoughtful way.
The mental health support worker will demonstrate warmth and a curiosity to understand others experiences.
The post holder will assist the individual to set and achieve their own unique recovery goals by providing support and keep the focus of life beyond illness.
Duties:
1. Physical health assessment including including venepuncture (training can be offered)
2. Assist patients with daily activities and provide emotional support
3. Help patients follow treatment plans
4. Monitor and report changes in patients' physical and mental health
5. Support during therapeutic activities
6. Encourage participation in therapeutic and recreational activities
7. Help develop healthy coping mechanisms and life skills
8. Supportive eating interventions.
9. Promptly report concerns to the clinical team
10. Ensure a safe environment and follow emergency protocols
11. Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, families, and caregivers
12. Assist with educational activities and organize recreational outings
13. Promote social interaction and community involvement
14. Engage in continuous professional development and training
15. Reflect on practice and seek feedback for improvement
16. Stay updated on best practices in mental health and eating disorder care
The post holder will be line managed by a Band 6 Senior Eating Disorder Practitioner identified by the Team Leader and will have supervision from a designated clinician within the AED service.
