Job Title: ADHD Nurse Practitioner - Children Services

Job Summary:
Clinicians working with ADHD 360 will be part of a dedicated team, committed to patient excellence. They are expected to deliver treatment with passion, ownership, and commitment. As an integral part of our organisation, the ADHD Clinician will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, formulating and monitoring treatment plans. You will possess a strong understanding of evidence-based practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting, providing essential services to individuals seeking support for ADHD.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Evaluate children and young people for ADHD, considering potential co-occurring conditions to inform diagnostic decisions.
2. Apply clinical judgment and experience to make treatment decisions, utilising advanced skills and knowledge in managing ADHD in children and young people.
3. Exercise independent professional responsibility for diagnostic decision-making within competence, whilst receiving monthly supervision from Team Leads.
4. Practice as a non-medical prescriber (independent/supplementary prescribing) to develop and implement treatment and titration plans, ensuring physical observations are obtained and reviewed (height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse) ensuring treatment decisions are safe and in accordance with NICE guidelines and organisational policies.
5. Support the patient throughout their treatment journey, conducting regular follow-ups for children under your care until they have reached stability and optimisation.
6. Perform patient risk assessments and review safeguarding needs in conjunction with treatment strategies during the patient journey.
7. Maintain accurate and timely client records on Chrysalis and associated clinical templates, adhering to professional requirements for accurate record keeping.
8. Ensure that the prescription is written as per legal requirements for controlled and non-controlled drugs.
9. Ensure that the prescription is recorded in the Chrysalis Log and the Quality Assurance Process is followed in line with ADHD360 policy and procedures.
10. Demonstrate a clear understanding and adherence to security in relation to prescription security and management.
11. Participate in regular line management supervision, supervised assessments, appraisals, and team meetings/case discussions.
12. Recognise and report clinical incidents and near misses to your team lead, to support the culture of continuous learning and improvement.
13. Be responsive to requests from Clinical Assurance and Patient Experience team to participate in investigations where required.
14. Be accountable for ensuring that mandatory training and clinical supervision is completed and sustains independent prescribing status.
15. Engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) events provided by ADHD 360.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Qualified nurse, current UK registration and PIN with the NMC (Essential).
2. Qualified Non-medical Prescriber (NMP) with current registration (Essential).
3. At least 2 years post-qualification and experience of working with Children and young people (e.g., CAMHS, acute or community) (Essential).
4. Specialist ADHD Nurse with experience (Desirable).
5. Ability to work unsupervised and independently within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct (Essential).
6. Expert level of understanding of the pharmaceutical treatment options for ADHD (Desirable).
Demonstrable Skills:
1. Ability to connect with and provide support for children and young people.
2. Familiarity with EPR systems.
3. Willingness to learn and follow clinic standards of practice.
4. Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients and their families.
5. Sufficient IT skills to be able to undertake a remote post with virtual assessments.
6. Ability to work alongside others within a multi-disciplinary team setting.
7. Professional approach consistent with regulatory body expectations.
8. Excellent time management and ability to manage own workload.
