Engineering at Nila
We're building Nila to help families across the world care for their loved ones back home. Our product has grown from a low-code MVP (Airtable + Glide) to a full-stack platform, and we're now building a scalable, robust engineering foundation.
As our second engineering hire, you'll work closely with our Tech Lead and founding team to build, test, and launch core features that make a real difference in people's lives. This is a hands-on role with high visibility and real ownership - from architecting systems to improving reliability, performance, and user experience.
You'll help shape our stack and team culture, contribute to architectural decisions, and grow as we scale our engineering team. If you're excited by the opportunity to work at the intersection of healthtech, fintech and global families - this is for you.
What You'll Do
* Product Development: Build and maintain a scalable, user-friendly platform for our eldercare solutions.
* System Architecture: Design and implement a reliable backend and frontend system to support rapid growth.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the tech lead and founding team to define technical requirements, prioritize features, and deliver outstanding user experiences.
* Innovation: Bring ideas to life by rapidly prototyping, testing, and iterating on features.
* Ownership: Take full responsibility for the codebase, ensure quality through clean code, and implement best practices in testing and security.
Requirements
What We're Looking For
* 4+ years of professional software development experience
* Strong proficiency with TypeScript and JavaScript
* Experience building scalable React component libraries
* Experience with Node.js backends and modern frameworks
* Familiarity with SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL
* Knowledge of RESTful API design and implementation
* Solid understanding of software development principles, data structures, and algorithms
* Experience with version control systems (Git)
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
* (Bonus) Experience working in startups or fast-paced environments
* (Bonus) Background or interest in healthcare or health-tech
* (Bonus) Experience with NestJS, Typebox, or Drizzle
* (Bonus) Knowledge of GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines
* (Bonus) Experience with Google Cloud Platform and Firebase
* (Bonus) Experience with agile development methodologies
