Package: £50,000 per annum, Car Allowance of £4,800 pa or Company Car, £4,000 location allowance
Role Purpose
Responsible for managing a team of 5 engineer surveyors and a site administrator. Key duties include conducting LOLER inspections and liaising with the client to ensure all their needs are met within the agreed timelines. Also responsible for all health and safety (H&S) aspects for the site team.
The role requires operating with a clear customer focus and driving optimal service delivery. The Team Leader will also work closely with the area delivery manager to successfully deliver the contractual inspections and other required tasks.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Non Productive
* Engagement of site engineers and site administrator, supporting the day to day running of a productive team in conjunction with the clients planning requirements.
* Assisting in the completion of Health and Safety Audits with the Area Manager and liaising with the Health and Safety team to ensure all actions are followed up and engineers are working safely.
* Attending client meetings to build relationships to ensure a good working relationship between Bureau Veritas and the client.
* Assisting with complaint investigations and resolution.
* Mentoring and focusing on new starters to ensure a successful induction/onboarding and technical training.
* Driving and supporting the upskilling/dual training of Engineers within the area, ensuring the upskilling programme runs effectively and in line with business requirements.
* Supporting the completion of PMRs and performance reviews for your site team.
* Supporting Weekly Ops calls with Area Manager to ensure site compliance.
* Providing KPI’s to the client to demonstrate site performance in conjunction with the contract manager.
* Working closely with the SO to ensure client expectations are met.
* Supporting surveyor security clearance applications for the site.
Productive
* Operating in line with Bureau Veritas Core Values and Code of Ethics.
* Fully utilising all operational systems available ensuring accurate data is inputted and reflected.
* Retaining independent and individual ownership and responsibility for all allocated inspection and technical activities.
* Ensuring surveys and inspections are carried out in set time scales in line with planned schedule of work.
* Formulating, producing and distributing inspection reports in a professional manner within daily timescales and service standards.
* Working closely with the site administrator to ensure the client’s planned work is completed daily, communicating any changes to the administrator and site planning team (SO) planner.
* Building and maintaining excellent client relationships and ensuring all client service standards are met on site.
* Maintaining an awareness of developments in standards and legislation affecting the Engineer Surveyor’s engineering discipline, and supporting change as required.
* Acting on behalf of the company, making full use of technical expertise when required.
* Responding and working flexibly, including requests to work nationally or outside of the region, with occasional requirements to stay away from home.
* Providing training for other Engineer Surveyors as required.
* Identifying possible business opportunities and advising all appropriate business areas.
* Maintaining technical standards within business units to meet business plan measures participating in Technical Competency Testing and Technical Audits (internal and external).
* Working effectively with Area Managers and Operations Manager to ensure all KPI’s are met.
Experience & Skills Required:
* Proven experience with sound technical knowledge of the relevant engineering discipline/s.
* Knowledge of in-service inspection procedures and processes.
* Good knowledge of market, industry trends, developments and changes in legislation.
* Proven experience in H&S.
Candidate requirements for Mechanical Inspection roles are:
* Minimum HNC, HND or equivalent mechanical engineering qualification.
* Hold a current U.K. driving license.
