Site Engineer
A busy housing contractor has a requirement for a Site Engineer to manage remediation and ground works packages on new build housing developments in the Greater Manchester region.
Site Engineer Role
Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of groundworks packages including earthworks, piling, footings and foundation, drainage, roads and sewers, and installation of utilities across multiple sites in the Greater Manchester region.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Be fully conversant with all contract drawings and specifications and their application to the works under construction.
2. Undertake the setting out of the works and carry out independent checks.
3. Quantify material requirements in advance for call off.
4. Manage waste effectively.
5. Carry out measurements and surveys of works completed by the Groundworks contractor.
6. Check levels and boundaries.
7. Assist in the preparation of updating programs and resource requirements as works progress.
8. Assist in the measurement of the works with the Engineer's representatives.
9. Be conversant with the company's policies and manuals covering Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, and environmental issues.
10. Monitor Health & Safety on site and immediately report any unsafe working practices to the Site Agent.
11. Continuously liaise and provide information to the Site Manager and Contracts Manager when required.
12. Assist in ensuring work is carried out cost-effectively.
13. Assist in ensuring a high standard of quality work and report any defects to the Site Manager.
14. Assist in maintaining site tidiness and cleanliness.
15. Maintain good public relations during the works.
16. Attend internal site meetings as required.
Requirements for the Site Engineer Role:
1. HNC or equivalent in Civil Engineering or similar is ideal.
2. 5+ years in a Site Engineering role.
3. Experience in bulk earthworks and related works.
4. Capable of using Total Station Survey, EDM, and GPS equipment.
5. Experience of AutoCAD.
6. IT literacy.
7. Proactive and good problem-solving skills.
