OverviewReporting directly to the Head of Commercial Legal, we are recruiting for a lawyer (9 month FTC) to join our small but busy in-house team here at Wincanton. The successful candidate will provide pragmatic, targeted advice and support on a range of legal issues across our diverse logistics business.Location is flexible for this position. Remote working as standard, there will besome requirement for travel to Chippenham Head Office and Wincantonsites or customer premises for face-to-face meetings.This role is for 4 days per week.How will you contribute?Drafting and maintaining legal precedentsSupporting and advising Procurement on their standard SOGAS agreementsProviding support on commercial contract issues across the businessAssisting with all legal and compliance matters in responses to tendersDrafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts and agreements including: NDA/confidentiality agreements;LOIs and outsourcing agreements;Variation and novation agreements;General logistics agreements; andIT agreements (as customer and supplier)Identifying and mitigating legal risks whilst ensuring a pragmatic approachProviding the business with ad hoc legal advice as and when neededKeeping informed of regulatory and market developments that will impact the businessReviewing and drafting policies and proceduresExperience in managing databases or internal registersWhat will you bring?Qualified solicitor with 1+ PQEProficiency in working in a fast-paced and complex business environmentAbility to work alongside a small but busy team and prioritise work to ensure timescales are metCommercially-focused and aware of the balance between business needs and riskWell-developed communication skills with the ability to build relationships and influence individuals at all levels of the organisationClear, authoritative and professional communication skillsStrong negotiation and influencing skillsAcute attention to detailApproachable and responsiveWilling to take control and make considered decisionsSelf-motivated and drives for continuous improvementStrong sense of integrity and values required to maintain standards and legal adherenceDesirable: experience within an in-house legal position or via secondmentDesirable: experience in advising on TUPE and GDPRWhat do we offer?Our Culture & BenefitsIn addition to generous remuneration, we really value our people and offer a friendly, safety-first working environment, along with other benefits including company pension scheme, generous holidays, cycle to work scheme, employee benefits include, online discount platform, onsite parking and much more.Our people are at the core of our business and what makes Wincanton great.
