About the School
Our client is a specialist school that provides highly effective education, therapy, welfare, and support for children and young people aged 6 to 19 with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), as well as other complex needs.
With three dedicated sites, the school delivers a structured and individualised education programme tailored to each student’s specific requirements, taking into account their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Teaching is delivered in small groups or on a one-to-one basis by fully qualified teachers and instructors, ensuring a supportive and personalised approach to learning.
The Role
Our client is seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Headteacher to join their leadership team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of students with SEMH and complex needs. You will work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team to drive school improvement, support staff development, and ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Headteacher in the strategic leadership and management of the school.
* Oversee the development and implementation of an inclusive, high-quality curriculum tailored to students’ individual needs.
* Lead and support teaching staff, providing professional development opportunities and mentoring where necessary.
* Ensure students receive the necessary pastoral care, welfare support, and therapeutic interventions to thrive academically and personally.
* Maintain high standards of safeguarding and wellbeing for all students.
* Foster strong relationships with parents, carers, external agencies, and the wider community.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and significant experience working with students with SEMH and complex needs.
* A proven track record of leadership within a specialist or mainstream education setting.
* Strong knowledge of EHCPs, safeguarding procedures, and inclusion strategies.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
* A passion for making a real difference in the lives of children and young people.
