The Aire Rivers Trust is seeking a dynamic and proactive Project Manager to lead our transformative river enhancement projects and drive positive change within the Aire catchment area. About Us We are dedicated to the improvement and preservation of the river Aire and its tributaries and by enhancing access and people’s involvement with the river. We work closely with stakeholders, including governmental bodies, local authorities, and community organisations, to deliver impactful projects that enhance biodiversity, improve water quality, increase access and engagement, and reduce barriers to fish passage. The Role As the Project Manager for River Enhancement, you will oversee the delivery and management of key projects which focus on improving habitats, addressing water quality and removing barriers to fish passage. This is a leadership role requiring expertise in project management, environmental science and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities Project Management: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of river enhancement projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope and on budget. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, landowners and external organisations. Represent projects in strategic forums and technical groups. Line Management: Supervise and support two Project Officers, ensuring smooth workflow and professional development. Planning & Environmental Management: Navigate planning permission processes, implement Natural Flood Management (NFM) strategies and ensure compliance with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) regulations. Funding & Development: Write bids and business cases for new funding opportunities, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities. Data Management & Reporting: Analyse project data and prepare clear, accurate reports for stakeholders. Contract Management: Manage procurement processes, contractors, and quality control for on-site works. Who You Are We’re looking for someone with: Proven experience in project management, ideally within environmental conservation or infrastructure projects. Expertise in planning permissions, BNG and NFM, OR geological work related to managing weirs. Strong skills in bid writing, business development, and securing funding. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for engaging stakeholders. Leadership experience and ability to manage teams effectively. Desirable: A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field. Knowledge of the Aire Catchment is a plus. Why Join Us?
