Introduction We are seeking an enthusiastic teacher to lead our Computer Science team. The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and the ability to inspire and motivate our pupils. You will have experience of teaching Computer Science at Key Stage 5. A willingness to contribute to extra-curricular activities and play a full part in the life of the school is essential. The Head of Department is accountable for the standards of teaching, learning, achievement, and attainment outcomes within the Department. They work under the general direction of the Head of Faculty. The Head of Department monitors the work and standards within the Department, providing written evaluations of its effectiveness. Responsibilities include producing an annual examination report and development plan for the department. Additionally, the Head of Department contributes to the development and maintenance of the whole school strategy, policies, and ethos. Responsibilities Lead the subject staff in teaching, serving as a role model for high-quality instruction and ensuring pupils' needs are met through differentiation. To engage all subject staff in the creation, consistent implementation and improvement of the schemes of work. Initiate and, when appropriate, organize curricular, extra-curricular, and educational enhancement activities related to the subject. Develop and implement policies and practices that reflect the school’s commitment to high achievement through effective teaching and learning. Display a professional knowledge base and identify key implications for subject development. Establish clear targets for achievement in the subject and evaluate progress using appropriate assessments, records, and regular data analysis. Involve all departmental colleagues in creating and executing the yearly departmental development plan, identifying clear targets, timeframes, and success criteria to contribute to the School Development Plan. Support, facilitate, and monitor the progress of the departmental development plan to ensure it significantly contributes to the School Development Plan. Represent the department at Heads of Departments (HOD) meetings or, if not attending, keep abreast of discussions through a representative colleague. Ensure all departmental members have the appropriate MAT, SEN EAL, and baseline data in their mark books and consider this information when planning lessons. Hold regular departmental meetings, keeping staff updated with decisions and proposals and seeking their views. Provide effective day-to-day line management for both teaching and support staff within the Department, implementing school policies and procedures to manage staff consistently and equitably. Ensure all subject staff understand and actively implement school and departmental policies and procedures, such as reports, disciplinary procedures, setting and marking of work, and provide assistance and guidance to team members as needed. Maintain efficient management and organization of learning resources, developing or identifying new resources, including ICT applications, for the subject
