We are urgently looking for 3-4 people working towards level 2 or 3 BSL who have a good understanding of autism to join our already highly skilful team supporting our deaf, autistic 30yr old son and his autistic friend/flatmate, to move out of home into their own flat in Dalkeith, Midlothian. The flat is 30min bus ride from Edinburgh on No 3 bus.
Neither of the guys have challenging behaviour. They are both very peaceful, cheerful, cooperative and hard working. Our son Josh works Mondays to Fridays in 2 communities (Garvald and Tiphereth) doing woodwork, composting, pottery and textiles. Liam has different daytime activities. Both guys love swimming, cinema, discos, holidays and going to the pub.
You will be expected to support both guys with daily activities within the home and in the wider community, such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and social activities. This may include some degree of personal care. You will be asked to work evenings, sleeping night duty and weekends as well as going on group or individual holidays. Shifts likely to be 1630 to 0800 Monday to Friday plus weekend shifts .
We will be offering an enhanced salary for staff with suitable BSL skills of £16+ ph. Full and part time posts available. Permanent contracts available. Applications from people looking for 15 hours per week or less welcome.
