Description Working for and on behalf of BP within the pipelines discipline team, as part of the East Coast Cluster’s Carbon Capture & Storage project, Costain are delivering the FEED services for a new CO2 (BP NZT/NEP) and blue Hydrogen (BP H2T) distribution pipeline network in Teesside and its brownfield landscape. The Principal Materials and Corrosion Engineer will work on the EPCM phase of the BP NZT/NEP and the FEED stages of the H2T project. The role requires significant experience of acting in similar roles on FEED & EPC projects for onshore brownfield oil & gas facilities, gas pipelines and energy transition projects This role is based 3 days a week in Manchester. LI-AW1 Responsibilities Provides technical and people leadership to a team of materials, corrosion, coating, welding and CP specialists Client focal point for all material related activities and client technical queries for Costain’s Energy projects Advise and provide guidance on material issues and corrosion problems. Support engineering disciplines on issues related to material selection, cathodic protection and coatings Prepare Material Selection Reports/Philosophies and Material Selection Diagrams (MSD’s). Prepare Corrosion Control, Corrosion Monitoring and Cathodic Protection Philosophies. Prepare Cathodic Protection design reports, drawings and MTOs. Support with Asset Integrity Plans, Corrosion Management and Corrosion Risk Assessments. Provide manhour estimates, deliverable lists and technical write-ups for projects and proposals. Review procedures, reports, drawings submitted by Supplier’s Support procurement with regards to cathodic protection materials. Support with any site activities as required. Qualifications A Degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science Engineering Minimum 15 years’ experience in corrosion/materials engineering Professional Chartered Engineer accredited with either ICorr or IOM3 Extensive knowledge of corrosion science/ cathodic protection/ materials engineering/coatings Experience in interface with clients and suppliers at all stages of a project life cycle from Conceptual to EPCM stages Must be customer focussed by striving for excellence through understanding, anticipating and meeting their needs
