The David Ross Education Trust is recruiting for an Estates Building Surveyor (Client-Side Building Surveyor). The role is based at our Head Office in Loughborough, with travel to Academies across the Trust.
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and delivery of small to medium sized estates projects across The David Ross Education Trust and delivery of the Trust Wide Capital Programme.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
* the preparation of feasibility studies and building designs, as well as written specifications, drawings and tender documentation for improvement works.
* project management to meet agreed cost and time targets, whilst delivering to the organisation’s aspirations.
* provision of advice on, and ensure compliance with, Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, Planning Legislation as well as advising on future sustainability and energy improvements.
* supporting the Facilities Manager to ensure Assets are captured in refurbishment or upgrade works to ensure compliance with Statutory Maintenance.
* providing expert advice to the Estates & Facilities Director and Director of Operations relating to incoming or changing legislation, as well as condition issues found around the Estate.
* collating comprehensive tender documentation when undertaking tender exercises and conducting tender analysis and writing tender reports – complying with the Trust’s procurement policies.
* facilitating an escalation route for Regional Education Directors, the Directors of Primary and Secondary Education and Academy Principals on all matters relating to maintenance and building matters; providing proactive advice and reactive assistance where necessary.

Who we are looking for
* Relevant qualifications such as a RICS accredited Building Surveying Degree.
* Proficient use of AutoCAD 2D.
* Experience of writing varied project specifications and schedules of work.
* Experience of end-to-end procurement and tendering processes and extensive contract management.
* Specialist knowledge of Asbestos Management, Fire Risk Assessments and general Statutory Maintenance requirements.
* Ability to interpret and translate legislation.
* Computer literate with strong presentation skills.
* An understanding of the need to deliver a quality Health and Safety provision in an efficient manner.
* Experience as acting as the Contract Administrator.
* Experience of inception to completion Project Management
* The flexibility and ability to travel across the UK (with occasional overnight stays)
