Job Description Position: Child Care Solicitor Location: Blackburn Salary: Competitive, DOE 1-3 years PQE: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum 3-5 years PQE: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum 5-10 years PQE: £55,000 - £70,000 per annum We are partnering with a leading law firm in Blackburn to support their search for a committed and experienced Child Care Solicitor to join their expanding team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to provide expert legal services to a diverse client base, including parents, grandparents, interveners, and children through CAFCASS-appointed Guardians. Key Responsibilities: Caseload Management: Manage a wide range of Child Care cases, including Legal Aid, CCMS procedures, Care Orders, and Adoption Orders, independently. Client Interaction: Offer advice and support to clients, handling sensitive and complex issues with professionalism. Court Preparation: Prepare for court appearances by assembling court bundles, instructing counsel, and conducting advocacy when required. Team Leadership: Supervise and guide solicitors, trainee solicitors, and caseworkers/paralegals, ensuring the team delivers high-quality legal services. Business Development: Participate in marketing and networking activities to promote the firm and generate new business opportunities. Document Drafting: Draft legal documents, including witness statements, applications, and other court-related materials. Client Care: Deliver exceptional client care, particularly in cases involving vulnerable clients and children. Cross-Functional Expertise: Leverage knowledge of related Family Law practices to provide comprehensive legal advice. Performance Measures: Manager/client satisfaction. Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure. Quality of drafted work and adherence to legal deadlines. Achievement of time recording and cost/fee targets. Ideal Candidate: Experience: 1-10 years PQE in Child Care Law, with extensive experience handling varied Child Care cases. Qualifications: Accredited with the Law Society Children Panel and holding a clean, valid Practising Certificate. Skills: Strong advocacy skills, excellent client care, and a proactive approach to case management. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with legal case management systems and strong Microsoft Office skills. Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and networking skills with a commitment to high standards of client care and team collaboration.
