Ward 16 is a 21 bedded antenatal and postnatal ward looking after a complex caseload. We are currently looking to recruit a part time house keeper to join our established team.
• General housekeeping duties for the ward and other areas as designated by the Ward Manager, Midwife in charge or Modern Matron.
• The main elements of the role are ensuring the delivery of cleaning, catering minor maintenance, administrative and other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs as determined by the ward manager.
• The post holder will be required to monitor quality standards and report deficiencies and take appropriate action.
Essential for role
• Induction training period of 1 week
• Knowledge of cleaning products
• Able to demonstrate good communication with patients, staff and ward visitors.
• Awareness of good hygiene standards
• Mandatory training as defined by the Trust policies
• Ability to work without direct supervision
• To be flexible and respond to changing service needs
• High level of personal motivation
• Understanding the need for confidentiality when dealing with patients and their families
Desirable
• NVQ level 1 or 2
• Previous experience of similar housekeeping work

• To carry out and maintain cleaning standards on the ward/department.
• To carry out spot cleaning to ensure spillages are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.
• To assist with the general and specialist equipment e.g., drip stands, and breast pumps and to ensure they are cleaned as per cleaning policy.
• To ensure the ward is safe and tidy at all times.
• To maintain upkeep of patients’ bed areas.
• To identify any problems and report to ward manager or sister/charge nurse.
• To prepare hot/cold beverages from the beverage trolley.
• To take responsibility for the ward kitchen, ensuring it is clean at all times e.g., out-of-date-food, stock rotation.
• To ensure refrigerated food is labelled and stored correctly as per policy.
• To maintain complete confidentiality with regard to all patient issues.
