We are looking for a Future In-Space Transportation Scenarios professional on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, Paris, France or Harwell, UK, to join their Commercialisation Services Department.
The project is aimed at building scenarios which describe potential futures and their implications for the emergence and success of In-Space Transportation solutions in Europe.
Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).
The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:
1. Support necessary STEEPLE (Society, Technology, Environment, Economy, Political, Legal) analysis that needs to be carried out to understand different environments impacting the space sector.
2. Support necessary analysis of the future space transportation system that extracts driving forces, critical uncertainties and predetermined elements.
3. Support necessary analysis that surfaces relevant insights through internal consultation, external engagement, expert consultation and any other analysis that needs to be performed.
4. Support the design and organization of workshops and events necessary to carry out this work.
5. Support the inductive and deductive approaches necessary to construct the scenarios and extract key messages for a range of stakeholders.
6. Support collaborative working with the technical programme team, by integrating with them where necessary in order to ensure the parallel and coordinated development of commercialisation workstreams alongside technical workstreams.
7. Support the organization of, and actively participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders as necessary.
8. Support and facilitate working with industrial partners to carry out detailed analysis impacting their business plans and the commercial success of their sector.
9. Support and facilitate working with a range of institutional partners at European and national levels to identify and design critical elements of the commercial operating model, consisting of regulatory, legal, political elements.
10. Maintain detailed documentation to retain insights and messages.
11. Ensure confidentiality of all information as directed by the CIC-SU Division Head and in accordance with ESA policies.
12. Support the ESA Technical Responsible in the design and delivery of all necessary work.

1. Masters degree in engineering or Business Administration.
2. At least 10 years of working experience, with at least 3 years in a space field.
3. More than 5 years of policy experience, ideally at a senior government level.
4. Demonstrated experience of developing, managing, and overseeing complex programmes and projects with public and private stakeholders with value exceeding 50 million euros.
5. Demonstrated clear understanding of the challenges related to Space commercialisation in Europe and the mission of the European Space Agency.
6. Experience in relevant areas such as commercialisation, technology transfer, application, and/or technology assessment and intellectual property is a distinct advantage.
7. Experience in managing teams spread across multiple locations.
8. Familiarity with the services provided by ESA is an asset.
9. Experience in foresight studies/projects is an asset.
10. Experience working with international partners is an asset.
11. Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
