Trainee Underwriter - Asset Finance

As they continue to expand, they are seeking a Trainee Underwriter to support the credit assessment process, contribute to sound lending decisions, and help manage risk within the bank’s growing portfolio. The Role
1. Assist in the underwriting process by reviewing credit applications, assessing affordability, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
2. Support the preparation of credit papers for senior approval, learning from experienced team members.
3. Contribute to the evaluation of financial data, creditworthiness, and security, ensuring sound risk management practices are followed.
4. Help monitor default activity and participate in recovery processes when necessary.
5. Collaborate with colleagues across the business to deliver a seamless customer experience.
What We’re Looking For
1. A keen interest in underwriting, credit risk, or agricultural finance.
2. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and assess risk.
3. Familiarity with bank lending processes and credit reference agencies is a plus.
4. A detail-oriented mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
5. A passion for the UK’s rural economy and a desire to learn within the agriculture finance sector.
