About the role:
We are looking for a Child and Family Support Worker to join our team and make a difference in children's lives every single day. As a Child and Family Support Worker, you will work in close partnership with the children, families, and school staff to deliver a programme of casework to promote and improve educational outcomes for the children we support.
You will focus your support to help improve attendance, punctuality, engagement in learning, improved behaviour in school and the local community, as well as improving social and emotional regulation and well-being.
No two days will be the same, as you will be working within different community settings or the homes of those that need support. Meeting with children and their families to provide a package of support and challenge interventions, you will be proactively engaging and supporting families to strengthen and improve their outcomes, developing resilience, and aiming to reduce dependency on external specialist services, ultimately so that the child/children can flourish at school. You will also work directly with parents to uncover underlying issues, enabling them to gain and maintain independence and parent well, so that their children attend school and succeed.
About you:
You will need to be an energetic communicator with excellent engagement and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with young people, parents/carers, and professionals. You will be committed to enhancing the lives of children, young people, and their families. You will also need to be emotionally resilient and be able to maintain a professional relationship with those that we support.
What we are looking for:
• Level 3 in Family Support Work or equivalent qualification is desirable.
• Proven knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and confidentiality/GDPR requirements. You must have excellent record-keeping skills and be proficient in the use of IT packages.
• Ability to engage with parents/caregivers on a one-to-one basis and/or delivering group work.
• Able to work independently with some direction.
• An understanding and knowledge of child attachment, SEND, and deprivation and how this impacts a child's schooling.
• Previous demonstrable experience of working directly with families on both a one-to-one and group basis.
• Experience in completing an assessment tool, for example, outcome stars or Early help assessments.
• The role requires travel; therefore, driving is an essential part of the role. It is essential that candidates have use of their own vehicle, which has suitable business insurance and a full driving licence.
• The working pattern for this role is Monday to Friday, 08.00 – 16.00 term time only (plus two weeks).
Responsibilities:
• Hold a caseload focusing on the child/children, meeting with families regularly through a 12 to 24-week period of interventions.
• Provide support and guidance to families in need, focusing on children’s well-being and development.
• Collaborate with parents to create effective strategies for managing challenges.
• Conduct assessments to identify family needs and resources.
• Undertake multi-agency work, liaising with other organisations and stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for children and their families.
• Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress.
• Drive to various locations as required to meet families and attend meetings.
• Foster a supportive and trusting environment for families to thrive.
