Position Summary We are looking for an experienced Compositing Supervisor who reflects the innovative spirit, creative talent, collaborative mindset and passion for great filmmaking that define ILM. The Compositing Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of 2D compositing. They will work alongside the Show Leadership Team (Exec Prod, Producer, PM, VFX Supe, CG Supe, Anim Supe) to manage Clients needs, expectations and aspirations to deliver the highest quality work, on time and to budget. What You’ll Do: Determine the creative and technical approach for compositing in collaboration with the VFX supe and show leadership Provide consistent leadership locally for the project, to ensure collective collaboration at all levels with a focus on the morale of the crew and the show leadership team Be aware of the impact creative decisions have on a show's schedule & budget, and be willing to change the creative choices, when possible, to stay on schedule budget Delegate creative and technical tasks, as needed, to the appropriate artists in order to maintain an overview of the creative and production goals of the show Foster an inclusive, respectful and cooperative dynamic within the compositing department What We’re Looking For: Demonstrable compositing supervision experience for the duration of at least 6 projects The ability to recognize what is aesthetically / technically missing in a shot Ability to offer various technical or creative solutions to fit with the budget and schedule of the show The desire to feedback, coach and mentor the team and individual artists to produce the best quality work Excellent communication, collaboration and problem solving skills A strong knowledge of matte extraction techniques, painting, roto, colour tools and methodologies, the scanning and timing process, matte paintings, and the use of 2 ½ D programs. Working knowledge of LiNUX and shell scripting Previous exposure to colour pipeline related tasks As part of your application please submit a demo reel, shot breakdown, or equivalent showcasing your work.
