Summary As a Ranger, youre a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors, and youll play a crucial role in keeping the nations beloved countryside and coast in good shape, for wildlife and for people. You should be willing to work some weekends, bank holidays and evenings, and be on call. What it's like to work here You'll be reporting to the Area Ranger working within the busy Belfast portfolio, with large visitor numbers containing priority habitats across 12 diverse countryside properties. From the maritime cliff & slope on the coastline at Islandmagee, the habitat mosaic in the Belfast Hills that includes areas of purple moorgrass & rush pasture, blanket bog and upland heath, to the beautiful wooded glens at Cregagh, Collin and Glenoe. Or Minnowburn, Lisnabreeny and Rowallane with species rich meadows and woodlands on the Citys fringe, there is a wonderful diversity of habitats to look after that ensure there is never a dull moment. What you'll be doing Youll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery. Youll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, youll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task. Youll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. Youll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing.
