An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Division of Planned Care for a Registered Healthcare Professional with an Ophthalmology nurse injector qualification. You will be required to work across three sites and provide expert knowledge, education, and support around the planning, assessing, and implementation of the management of patients requiring injections. The post holder will also be expected to play a pro-active role in service improvement, working closely with the Ward/Unit Managers, other Lead Nurses, and the Assistant Director of Nursing. This is an ideal opportunity for you to use your experience, knowledge, and skills to contribute to the development of a strong and quality-focused workforce for the future and to assist in the Directorate, Division, and Care Organization in achieving their objectives for the year. Main duties of the job
* Contribute towards the management of the ward/department, deputising for the manager as required over a 7-day rota system.
* Provide professional leadership and support.
* Actively promote practice and education development at ward/departmental level.
* Supervise junior staff and participate in the teaching of students on both basic and post-basic courses.
* Maintain personal and professional development.
* Participate in effective utilization of resources.
* Act in accordance with the NMC Professional Code of Conduct.
* Perform Intravitreal Injections within own Nurse-led clinic.

Job responsibilities
* Assessing and implementing treatment for patients requiring intravitreal injections following NICE guidance.
* Working flexibly across the service to provide in-depth knowledge regarding the management of Ophthalmology conditions, particularly those requiring injections.
* Working closely with patients in an Ophthalmology setting.
* Working as part of a team to ensure adequate cover in other areas of Ophthalmology.
* Provide education and support to trainee or junior staff members.
* Participate in work streams and quality improvement work to improve outcomes and experience for our patients.
This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled in a course that means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfill the essential criteria for this role.
The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
