QUARRY MANAGER
REPORTING TO: Head of Operations.
PROBATION PERIOD: 6 months
PURPOSE
Safely and efficiently manage Quarry & Landfill operations on site. Safety and operational standards are fundamental with people management and performance being key. Ensure full compliance with business policies and procedures and ensure legislative compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
o Daily Toolbox Talks
o Technical Support
o Recruitment
o Performance
o Absence Management
o Training/Coaching – Ensure all areas of knowledge are updated as required to carry out the job with maximum effectiveness and to organise training/development courses as necessary.
o Payroll
o Workforce Planning – Safe and efficient utilisation of the business earthmoving fleet of machinery.
2. STOCK MANAGEMENT
o Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained and available for resale at all times.
o Liaise with site-based Technician to ensure materials are tested & graded each week.
o Investigate non-conforming materials and implement remedial actions.
o Carry out weekly stock measures and communicate to the wider Brice Aggregates Management team.
3. MAINTENANCE
o Plan and implement a preventative maintenance scheme to minimise plant downtime.
o Manage stocks of critical parts required for site processing operations.
4. COMPLIANCE
o Understand and implement the Quarries Regulations 1999 enabling a Reg 8 appointment (D) or be willing to learn.
o Manage de-watering activities ensuring environmental and permit compliance.
o Comply with all aspects of Brice Aggregates Policies and procedures.
5. HEALTH & SAFETY
o Issue safety briefings to your team.
o Complete site inductions for new drivers and health and safety inductions for new starters.
o Operate to the highest level of Health & Safety objectives in line with Brice Aggregates Health & Safety Policy.
o Proactively manage Health & Safety of employees to continuously improve performance.
6. OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES (Landfill and Processing Plant)
o Safe and efficient utilisation of the site processing plant.
o Conduct risk assessments and implement operational procedures.
o Monitor inbound waste levels and plan crushing campaigns.
o Ensure only compliant materials are accepted into the site.
7. REPORTING
o Investigate unsafe or hazardous working practices.
o Report statutory inspections required by the Quarry Regulations 1999.
o Collect data and populate documents relating to site KPIs.
o Compile electronic daily diaries of site activities.
o Maintain spend records for the site’s P&L account.
QUALIFICATIONS
* SHE NVQ Level 2+/QCF Level 6 – Required.
* IOSH/NEBOSH - Advantageous.
* MPQC Level 3 – Geotechnical Competence – Strongly desirable.
* WAMITAB – Level 4 - Desirable.
SKILLS
* Excellent communication and influencing skills.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Ability to think strategically and problem-solve.
* Capacity to make quick decisions.

* Leadership qualities and team-building skills.
EXPERIENCE
* Understand different methods of winning and extracting raw materials.
* Experienced in Quarry Operations.
* Experienced in large earthworks projects.
* Knowledge of Landfill Operations advantageous.
* Good knowledge of Risk Assessments & Safe Systems of Work.
* Good working knowledge of production processes, H&S and Environmental policies.
* Understanding of P&L accounts & Budgets.
* Ability to multitask and manage change.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
